Black & Red
We made our first black wedding cake the other day. Well, it was actually Black & Red. To get that pitch black tone, he made a deep red fondant and then airbrushed it with food colouring to black. The curved spikes that you see on the cake are hung on after the red paisley cut outs were placed on the cake. The roses used were fresh, imported roses. For this cake, size was everything. The cake board at the bottom was approximately 18 inches accross. That gives you some scale and idea as to how large the roses were.
